Corporate Clothing Wear
Corporate clothing wear normally consists of a more structured garment such as suiting, but also includes skirts, blouses, shirt, dresses and waistcoats. The focus is on a more formal look with special attention paid to the fit of the garment. Traditionally the emphasis has been on tailoring, which historically was a service providing clothes made to a customer’s person measurements.

Up until the 90’s most office-based settings required very smart corporate clothing wear. It represented the company’s values and image and gave the impression of quality, efficiency, and reliability. This still remains today in sectors such as banking, finance or legal services.
Dress down Friday
Dress down Friday came in during this period, it was a reward or perk for the staff after a week of hard work and recognised a general movement towards more relaxed dressing. This then started to merge into more casual wear during the rest of the week. There was still an element of the corporate clothing wear but maybe a shirt with no tie, long sleeve polo or suit trousers but no jacket.
Working from home
When the pandemic hit in 2020, many office-based staff started working from home, their requirements for work clothes disappeared overnight. After the country opened up, many staff continued to work from home and would only need work clothes occasionally. Those that did go back into work weren’t required to dress as smartly when in the office. One of the big driving forces is the replacement of formal shoes with trainers. This has been very influential in how office wear has evolved. The emphasis is very much about comfort and the merging of active and formal wear.
Business wear
For those people and businesses who do still have quality corporate clothing wear, there are many more options being introduced which are offer a smart but comfortable solution. Stretch fabrics with compositions which are much softer and more comfortable than wool suits. Clothing which is machine washable which rules out the need for dry cleaning.
